Don't worry for rust! Today's BMTSR lesson for brake discs!
For a period of time, many car owners asked us in the backstage about why the brake disc of the new car that he just bought was rusty. Although it is impossible to buy the brake discs of his new car from BMTSR, we still think it is necessary to remind you that the slight rust of the brake discs is actually a normal phenomenon, and it is not necessarily related to whether it is first handed.
If you park in a humid area for more than two days, especially after it has rained, when you drive again, you see rust on the brake discs, this is normal.
Because the brake disc is made of cast iron, it cannot be rust-proofed and can only be exposed to the air, so it will naturally oxidize and rust when the humidity is high.
● Use friction to solve rust ●
The brake disc, in simple terms, is a round plate that rotates at the same time when the car is moving. When braking, the piston of the sub-cylinder is acted on by the hydraulic pressure from the oil pipe, pushing the friction plate against the brake disc to cause friction braking, just like using a pliers to clamp a rotating plate to force it to stop.
Friction refers to the movement resistance between the contact surfaces of two relatively moving objects. The friction force (F) is proportional to the friction coefficient (C) and the sag of the friction bearing surface, expressed by the physical formula: F=C*N.
For the brake system, C refers to the friction coefficient between the brake pads and the brake disc, and N is the friction coefficient of the brake caliper piston against the brake. The larger the value, the greater the friction generated.
So you don’t need to worry if it encounters slight rust, we can solve it by ourselves. In the safe section of the road, using the brake principle to brake continuously, the rust can be removed under multiple frictions.
BMTSR Reminds
In the following four situations, the brake disc must be replaced in time!
Too much rust
The brake disc has a deep groove
60,000 to 70,000 kilometers
The brake warning light is on
